App Review: Tiny Wings

I purchased the new game at the top of the AppStore “Paid Apps” top 25 this week. First impressions were “This is more difficult than I imagined” closely followed by “Wow, there really isn’t much to this game for 59p”. After playing for a while, you start to get the hang of it and progress further and further each try (my current best distance is halfway through island 5).

My favourite iOS games are those that master addictive, competitive gameplay with easy touchscreen controls which this does well, I just feel a little that it may be a bit too basic in features to be topping the AppStore at the moment (it currently doesn’t even support GameCenter). Although it is completely original and unique and not an Angry Birds/iCopter rip-off that I first feared. There are better games around (Peggle, Tilt-to-live) in the same price bracket but it is worth 59p/99 cents at this point and will hopefully be more feature packed with future updates.
